In recent times Dominica has been dominated by two parties - the
Dominica Labour Party (DLP) and the United Workers Party (UWP). The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) governed for 15 years, but has not won a seat since the 2000 election. Each party nominates one candidate for
each constituency. Independent candidates may also
stand for elections. A total of xx parties have nominated candidates for the 2014 general election.
