The Hon. Ezekiel Bazil
Opposition Member of Parliament, Commonwealth of Dominica
Ezekiel Bazil is a Dominican Insurance Professional, politician, and an opposition parliamentarian.
Earl life and education
Ezekiel Bazil was born on 16 November 1965 in Dominica in the village of Wesley, Dominica. He was educated at the Wesley Primary Government School, the Dominica Grammar school and was transferred to the St Andrews high school after the devastating Hurricane David. He later attended the St. Lucia Insurance Institute (Certificate); The Academy of Insurance Trinidad (Certificate); Crawford Learning & Resource Center (Atlanta Georgia); American Institute for CPCU/ Insurance Institute of America.
Career
Bazil is the current Member of Parliament for Wesley for the United Workers' Party (UWP), having successfully contested the 2014 election. He previously served as an oppoistion senator from 2009 to 2014.
Bazil served as an agricultural extension officer for the Wesley/ Woodfordhill district with the North East agricultural program before gaining employment with American Life Insurance Company and Life of Barbados as a life underwriter. He then went on as manager of Dom waters in Antigua. He was later employed as supervisor at Insurance Consultants Ltd agents for American Home Insurance Co. Nemwil and Barbados Fire and General. Ezekiel then decided to move back to Dominica to make his contribution to community building and national development. He was appointed managing director for Mc Breadston Foods (Perkys) and is now a director of The Resource Management Service and the Claims Manager of First Domestic Insurance Company Ltd.
He is a Past Member of Wesley Catholic Youth Group; Past member the St. Andrews High School Drama club, General Secretary of Tipper Truckers Association of Dominica; International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS) Dominica Public Service Union Women’s Group.
Personal life
Bazil is married and a father of four.
