Former Cabinet Minister, Grenada
Michael Church is a Grenadian politician and former Cabinet Minister.
Early life and education
He was educated at Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, and St. John’s Christian College. He received his higher education from the Grenada Teachers’ College, the University of Havana, the University of Camaguey, North Carolina State College and the University of Manitoba. He specialized in Education and Agricultural Economics.
He has worked as Chief Technical Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture and Lecturer at the T. A. Marryshow Community College.
In 2008, Church was appointed Minister of Labour, Social Security and Ecclesiastical Affairs in the Tillman Thomas led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
In November 2010, he was demoted to junior minister in the Ministry of Works, Physical Development and Public Utilities because he had attended a meeting in Italy with a former trade advisor to Grenada without the approval of Cabinet. He resigned after he boycotted his own swearing-in ceremony.
Michael and his wife, Lyndonna, have five children.
