Lorencezo Chanlah Codrington
Former Cabinet Minister, Antigua and Barbuda
Chanlah Codrington is an Antiguan and Barbudan politican and former parliamentarian and Cabinet Minister.
Early life and education
Mr. Codrington was born on 10 January 1958 in the village of Sea View Farm, Antigua. Chanlah's father was a tailor and his mother was a seamstress.He attended the Sea View Farm Primary School and the Antigua Grammar School. He obtained GCE passes in Physics, Mathematics, English, Biology and Spanish and, has acquired an advanced level certificate in law from the Cambridge University. He also acquired a Bachelor of Laws (LLB / distance learning) from Holborn College / Woolverhampton University in the United Kingdom.
Career
Codrington currently serves as the local representative for Holborn College. In his professional life, he is an electronic technician who worked for 28 years at the Caribbean Relay Station. In government, Chanlah has served on a variety of boards and commissions. On these boards, he is not known as a partisan politician, he is known as an friendly and effective grassroots advocate who can work across party lines to get things done in the best interest of the people he represents.
Codrington lost his seat in the 12 June 2014 general election to newcomer Michael Browne of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.
Personal life
Chanlah is a husband to Delora Davis Codrington also of Sea View Farm and father of four children, Chanlah Codrington, Chandora Codrington, Chante Codrington, and Chandera Codrington. Chanlah is a former member of the Optimist Club of Wadadli. He is also involved in the Health for the Children Foundation where he plays in a band every other Saturday at the corner of Redcliffe Street and Corn Alley to raise money for children with terminal illnesses. In his free time, he enjoys playing music and fishing.
A man of God, he attends the Sea View Farm Zion Church of God where he plays the guitar and keyboard from time to time.
