Margo Alita Durant-Callendar

Margo Durant-Callendar is a Barbadian businesswoman, politician, and former election candidate.
Early life and education
Margo Alita Durant-Callender, was born on 11 January 1960. Her desire for education has taken her to the St. Christopher’s Girls School (primary), Christ Church High School (secondary) and for professional training and development at the Macon Business Academy, BIMAP (Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity) and the Caribbean Training Institute. As a result, she has gained professional qualifications in Business, Marketing, Business Finance, Business Organisation & Environment, Effective Business Communication, Bookkeeping & Accounts, Secretarial Studies, Human Relations & Business Etiquette, Public Relations & Advertising and Public Speaking and Presentation Skills.
Margo is currently the Business Manager of the Caribbean Training Institute, having worked in various positions in the private sector as well as a Constituency Assistant, a role which brought her into direct contact with the political public and gave her valuable hands-on experience and insights into their needs and how to service them.
She also has an extensive background of community service especially with the Christ Church Parish Independence as Committees Deputy Chairman, Project Chairman, Attendant to Parish Ambassadors, and Secretary, for which she received a number of awards. She has also been a member of the Christ Church East District Emergency Organisation, the Inch Marlow Cricket & Community Club, and the Steering Committee of the “Think…Act Now Environment Foundation.” Her cultural exploits have ranged from being a calypsonian and recording artiste under the name of “Margie”, Secretary of the United Artistes of Barbados, Cast Director of Sing Out Barbados, songwriter, actress and performances with Sing Out Barbados at the United Nations and Radio City.
She is married to former parliamentarian Wendell Callendar.
