Neva Edwards was a former Speaker of the House of Assembly of Dominica.

Early life and education

Neva Edwards was born in 1931.

Career

Neva Edwards has dedicated her life to education, in particularly, to pre-school education. At the Social Centre, she was managing director of four NGO programmes, in particular the National Early Childhood Programme.

Edwards served as speaker of the House of Assembly of Dominica from 1993 to 1995.

Honours and awards

She received the Meritorious Service Award in 1991. In 1999, she was nominated by the Dominica National Council of Women for the Caricom Award for Women in 1999. In 2011, she was inducted into a Hero's Park in the village of Marigot.

Personal Life

Edwards has also served as an accredited lay preacher amongst other leading positions in the Methodist church.
