Claude-Earl Francis was a former Antiguan parliamentarian and Cabinet Minister.
Career
Claude-Earl Francis was a successful lawyer.
Francis won the Barbuda seat in the 1971 election for the Progressive Labour Movement, and was appointed a Junior Minister. In November 1975, his ministerial appointment was cancelled by Premier George Walter. His dismissal from the cabinet was believed to have resulted from being critical of the government's new legislation and his votes against the government in the House of Representatives.
During the 1976 election, Francis retained the seat as an independent candidate; and in March1976, he was included in the Vere Bird Cabinet as Minister of Barbuda Affairs.
Personal life
Francis was married to Thirza Francis.
Death
Claude-Earl Francis died suddenly in February 1978.
Eric Burton, and independent candidate won the September 1978 by-election for the Barbuda seat.
