Ambrose V. George
Former Cabinet Minister, Commonwealth of Dominica
Ambrose V. George is a Dominican Agricultural Engineer, politician, and a former Cabinet Minister.
Early life and education
An Agricultural Engineer, Ambrose George holds a Diploma in Agriculture and several Management Certificates including Report Writing, Decision Making and Time Management.
Career
George joined the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) in 1994 as president and became a senator in 1995 until 2000 when he was elected as Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau South Constituency. He was re-elected in 2005 and 2009.
He has held several Ministerial Portfolios including Minister for Finance, Agriculture, Enterprise Development and Public Works and Infrastructural Development. He has also acted as Prime Minister in the Roosevelt Skerrit Administration on several occasions. In November 2008, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt announced a cabinet reshuffle in which George was not included.
In 2014, he failed his bid to be re-elected for a fourth consecqutive term.
