Former Cabinet Minister, Antigua and Barbuda

Hilroy Humphreys is a former Antiguan parliamentarian and Cabinet Minister.

Career

In 1980 Humphreys was elected to the House of Representatives of Antigua and Babuda and the representtive for All Saints for the Antiuga Labour Party. He went on to serve as the representative for All Saints West until 2004 when he lost to Chanlah Codrington of the United Progressive Party.

Humphreys served as Minister of Trade and Industry during the first term of the Lester Bird Administration (1994 - 1999). He later served as Minister of Commerce, Industry and Business Development (1999 - 2001) and Minister of Economic Development, Trade, Industry, and Commerce (1999 - 2002). Humphreys resigned his ministerial post on 20 April 2002 amid an ongoing probe into allegations of corruption in the operations of the state's Medical Benefits Scheme.
