Former Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda

Sir Wilfred Ebenezer Jacobs (19 October 1919–11 March 1995) was the first Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda.

Early life and education

Sir Wilfred Ebenezer Jacobs was born on 19 October 1919 in Grenada of Grenadian and Antiguan parentage. He attended the Grenada Boys Secondary School (Grammar School) and took his bar examination in England.

Career

From 1958-1962, Sir Wilfred Jacobs served in the short lived West Indies Federation. He later became Attorney General of Barbuda. In 1967, Sir Wilfred became the first governor of the Associated State of Antigua and Barbuda.
On 1 November 1981, Sir Wilfred Jacobs achieved the distinction of becoming the first Governor-General. On 10 January 1993, Sir Wilfred left office and retired from public service.

Death

Sir Wilfred Jacobs died on 11 July 1995, aged 75.
