James Winford Liburd was a politician, for Member of Parliament in St. Kitts and Nevis, and former Senator in the West Indies Federation.

Career

Liburd successfully contested the St. John/St. Paul/St. Thomas (Nevis) seat as a candidate for the Workers’ League (later the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla Labour Party) in the 1952 election.  He did not seek re-election in 1957.

From 1958 to 1962, Liburd served as a Senator for St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla in the Senate of the West Indies Federation.  He was also appointed as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance on the Council of State of the Federation.
