Ivan St. Clair Lynton was a former Senator in Barbados.

Career

Ivan Lynton, known on the radio call-in programmes as “The Economist”, was a household name in Barbados.  A former public servant; he served in the Upper Chamber in the Owen Arthur administration between 2003 and 2007.  He has the distinction of being the first visually impaired member of the Barbados Senate.

Lynton also served as a member of the Constitution Review Commission which was set up by then Governor General Sir Clifford Husbands on 29 October 1996 under the chairmanship of Sir Henry Forde, QC.

Personal life

Lynton was married to Esme Lynton neé Mayers and the father of two sons and four daughters. He was a devout member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Death

Ivan Lynton died on Sunday, 13 December 2015 in Barbados.  He was 81 years old.
