Corthwright Uriah Marshall is an Antiguan politician.
Early life and education
Corthwright Uriah Marshall holds a Bachelor of Laws; a Master of Laws, with distinction, specializing in Banking and Finance; a Certificate in Legal Education; a diploma in Spanish; and a Master of Science in Economic Planning.
Career
Marshall's interest in politics developed in the early 1970s with the struggle of citizens to create a new Antigua & Barbuda. By 1978, Marshall had joined the Antigua Caribbean Liberation Movement (ACLM) and he participated actively in the 1980 elections. In 1994, Marshall was elected Assistant General Secretary of the United Progressive Party and, in 2012, he was elected General Secretary.
He has extensive experience in the tourism sector, having served in the Ministry of Tourism and in other areas of public life in a number of national and international capacities, including Acting Director-General of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tourism, Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).
Having taught at the All Saints Secondary School and the Pilgrim High School, Marshal continues to contribute to his community by teaching evening classes. He is also a part-time lecturer in law at the Antigua State College.
Marshall unsuccessfully contested the St. Mary's South seat for the United Progressive Party (UPP) in the 2018 General Election.
