Cabinet Minister, Antigua and Barbuda
Melford Nicholas is an Antiguan parliamentarian and Cabinet Minister. Nicholas is the current parliamentary representative for St. John's City East for the Antiga and Barbuda Labour Party.
Early life and education
Melford Nicholas was born and raised in St. Johnston’s Village, Antigua.
Career
He has worked at the APUA Telephone Central Office for 23 years. He has almost three decades’ worth of experience in business management and industrial relations.
Nicholas was political leader of the Organisation for National Development (OND) which merged into the ABLP in 2012 after its unsuccessful run in the 2009 general election. He was the United Progressive Party (UPP) campaign manager in 1999, but fell out with the UPP after his nomination to become a candidate for the 2004 general elections was challenged by the party executive and the matter was taken to court.
Nicholas succesfully contested the St. John's City East constituency in the 12 June 2014 general election defeating incumbent Harold Lovell (UPP). On 18 June 2014, he was appointed Minister of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.
Nicholas successfully retained his seat in the 2018 general election. He was appointed re-appointed Minister of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Information Technology on 22 March 2018.

Nicholas is married to Sincere Nicholas nee Samuel
