Wendy Phipps is a politician and Cabinet Minister in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Early life and edcuation
Wendy Colleen Phipps was born in St. Kitts on 27 November 1967 to Doris Warner-Phipps of Cotton Ground, Nevis and Sydney Phipps of Fahie’s Estate on St. Kitts. Ms Phipps is a management consultant by profession.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Humanities/Journalism from the University of the Virgin Islands (1991), and a Master of Mass Communication Degree from The University of Georgia (1992). Her interests include classical literature, arts & crafts, and gardening.
Career
Phipps is a former Director and Vice President of the OECS Business Council and the St. Kitts-Nevis Small Business Forum, respectively. She relinquished both of these positions following the General Election in February 2015 when she was appointed as a Senator and Minister of State with responsibility for Health, Community Development, Gender Affairs and Social Services in the new Team Unity Administration.
Outside of politics, she is the sole proprietor of Trinity Business Services/The Main Event, a business consulting firm she started in 2010, focusing on business solutions and advocacy of the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector, as well as indigenous and American-owned manufacturing facilities. Ms Phipps is a former Executive Director of the St. Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce, having served that organisation from 1994-2010.
