The Hon. Lennox O'Reilly Weston
Cabinet Minister, Antigua and Barbuda
Lennox O'Reilly Weston is an Antiguan senator and Cabinet Minister.
Early life and education
Lennox Weston studied at the University of the West Indies as a Hubert Humphrey Fellow, and also took courses at Colorado State University, the University of Minnesota and Connecticut University. His specialties included public administration, business management and economic planning.
Career
After completing his education, Weston worked for over 20 years with the Government of Antigua as Permanent Secretary and Financial Secretary. He then worked at the World Bank and U.S. Department of Agriculture, specializing in economics and research. Mr. Weston currently works as a private consultant, with clients including several agencies linked to the United Nations and private sector business. He works with his clients on issues involving business management, financial management, and environmental and natural resource management.
Weston has served as a senator in Antigua and Barbuda’s Parliament for more than six years. Additionally, he has served on the Boards of some of the world’s most prestigious financial institutions, including the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, Caribbean Development Bank, OECS Central Bank, Antigua Barbuda Development Bank, Antigua Fisheries, Ltd., Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute CARDI, and the Caribbean Fisheries Research Project.
In his community, he has served as President of Antigua’s National Football Association and has coached both cricket and football teams. He has hosted a public education talk show, UnCut, for almost a decade and is a writer-producer of Calypso music.
Following the ABLP return to office through the 12 June 2014 election, Weston was was reappointed a senator, Leader of Government Business in the Senate, and Minister of State within the Ministry of Finance & Corporate Governance.
He successfully contested the St. Philip South seat for the ABLP in 2018. He was appointed Minister of Works and Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance on 22 March 2018.
