Deputy Governors of Turks and Caicos Islands

The Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands shall be a Turks and Caicos Islander and shall be appointed by the Governor in pursuance of instructions given by Her Majesty through a Secretary of State.

The Deputy Governor is:

  • a non-voting member of Cabinet and acts as Governor when the latter is absent from the territory.
  • heads the public service
  • is the line manager of the Permanent Secretaries
  • chairs a Permanent Secretaries’ committee that reviews legislation and decisions for Cabinet. 

The current Deputy Governor is Anya Williams, since 15 October 2012.
