The Cabinet of Guyana

Cabinet is selected mainly from the List of Candidates submitted to the electorate, any President is limited to choosing only four persons outside of this list for inclusion in his Cabinet. The Constitution provides for four technocrat Ministers.

As of 1 January 2016

The Ministry of the Presidency announced a Cabinet reshuffle and the creation of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Telecommunications to be headed by Raphael Trotman and Catherine Hughes respectively. Minister of Tourism, Catherine Hughes was named Minister for Public Telecommunications, while maintaining Ministerial responsibility for Tourism.

The Ministry of Governance and the Protection of the National Patrimony is being renamed the Ministry of Natural Resources.  Minister Raphael Trotman will now be named Minister of Natural Resources. In addition, Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection, Simona Broomes, was shifted to the new Ministry of Natural Resources.

Minister Keith Scott was moved to the Ministry of Social Protection and will be responsible to labour issues.  Mrs. Valerie Sharpe-Patterson, MP, is appointed Minister within the Ministry. Valerie Sharpe-Patterson has received the nod as Minister within the Ministry of Communities will be appointed.
