The Chamber of Deputies (La Chambre des Députés) is the result of political, economic and social change in Haiti. Throughout history, the House was in turn one of Representatives, House of Commons before being designated by the current name, the Chamber of Deputies. It is often composed of heterogeneous mosaic policies meet the requirements of the 1987 constitution to guarantee the political and ideological pluralism.
The Chamber of Deputies as the Senate of the Republic of the legislature. The law sets the number of members in large cities without this number does not exceed three. Deputies are elected by an absolute majority of votes cast in the primary assemblies, under the conditions and in the manner prescribed by the Electoral Law. According to Article 92 of the 1987 constitution, members are elected for four years and may be re-elected indefinitely. After the last elections in 2005, the Chamber has 99 MPs.
Like any institution, the Chamber of Deputies has a political and administrative structure. Work Parliamentarians are operational from the activities of the Commissions. The 1987 constitution establishes the eligibility of a member. They shall take office on the second Monday of January and shall serve two Annual Sessions. The term of office as a Legislature. |
