The Premier of Montserrat is the head of government of Montserrat, His cabinet, the Executive Council, is appointed by the Governor from among the elected members of the Legislative Assembly and consists also of the Executive Council of the Governor, the attorney general, and the financal secretary.

Chief Minister Reuben T. Meade announced the members of his new Executive Council following victory of his Movement for Change and Prosperity (MCAP) victory in the 8 September 2009 general election.

The Hon. Reuben T. Meade was sworn in as the first Premier of Montserrat following the island’s adoption of a new constitution. Under the new constituion, the Executive Council was reformulated as the Cabinet.
