Barbados Electors Association (BEA) |
The Barbados Electors Association (BEA) was a political party in Barbados.
The BEA dates back to 1941 and was often referred to as the 'Electors Association' or the conservatives. Initially, this group was a significant electoral force but gradually lost its impace under the emergence of Labour politics. The BEA was renamed the Progressive Conservative Party in 1956, and by 1960 had become known as the Barbados National Party (BNP).
The conservatives sponsored 18 candidates in the 1951 election, 13 in 1956, and 12 in 1961 before ceasing to exist in 1970. |
