The United People's Coalition (UPC) is a political party in Sint Eustatius.
The UPC won 24.7% of the votes and one of five seats in the Island Council in the first elections after Sint Eustatius became part of the Netherlands upon the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2011.
Following the election, a new coalition government was formed among UPC, the Sint Eustatius Empowerment Party (STEP), and the Progressive Labour Party (PLP), with a combined three of five seats in the Island Council.
The UPC won 15.3% of the votes and one of five seats in the 2015 Island Council election.
Following the 2015 election, the Progressive Labour Party (PLP) and United People's Coalition (UPC) agreed to form a new coalition government with a combined three of five seats in the Island Council.
In August 2016, UPC Island Council Member Reuben Merkman resigned from the party to sit as an Independent Member, effectively leaving the party with no seats in the Island Council. Merkman however agreed to maintain the coalition with the PLP. |
