The Parliament of Saint Lucia is bicameral. The House of Assembly has 17 members, elected for a five year term in single-seat constituencies or electoral districts.

CONSTITUENCY TIMELINE
In 1951, the first election after attainment of universal adult suffrage, there were eight constituencies in Saint Lucia. The number of constituencies was increased to 10 for the 1961 elections, and to the current 17 for the 1974 election.
