Electoral System
The seven members of the Legislative Council were elected in single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post voting.
Political Parties & Candidates
Twenty candidates contested the elections; the Montserrat Labour Party (MLP), led by Chief Minister William Henry Bramble, had a full slate of seven candidates, the Montserrat Workers' Progressive Party (MWPP) nominated five, with the remaining eight running as independents.
Results
The result was a victory for the Montserrat Labour Party, which won five of the seven seats in the Legislative Council. The MWPP won one seat and the remaining seat was won by an independent candidate.
Voter Turnout
Voter turnout was 53.6% of the 7,265 registered voters.
