Born in the town of Georgetown in the North Central Windward Constituency Kenroy Johnson took the supernumerary route to higher education. Never formally entering secondary school, at the end of Primary School studies he became a pupil teacher and worked his way up through the system to hold today a Bachelors in Education with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies and a Master’s in Education with a focus on Science Education and Curriculum Studies. Quite simply Kenroy is an Educator and has been since 1971.
Children at every level of Education proclaim him the teacher who motivated and challenged them to strive for excellence and he enters politics with a desire to bring change and prosperity to the people of the constituency he calls home.
A born again Christian man who many described as a distinguished son of the soil, Kenroy is humble, and quietly effective in his community. He spearheaded the formation of the Georgetown Festival Development Organization and the inauguration of an annual Georgetown Festival in 2009. He was also an integral part of the formation of the Georgetown Area Sports Association in the 1980s. This organization was responsible for the organization and coordination of sporting activities in the Georgetown basin. His concern for the community saw him Chair the Georgetown Health Team in the 1980s and as Principal of the Georgetown Secondary School Johnson Took the initiative to organize the now flourishing Georgetown Evening Classes at the Georgetown Secondary School.
A man of many talents Johnson lives the verse, “With God All things are Possible.” His work in the church rivals his work in education. He has been committed to the faith and by his actions has shown himself to be a good, decent, spiritual and Christian man. Currently, Kenroy is a member of Church Board, Georgetown Evangelical Church, he is a Church Musician, Choir Leader, He has served as an Executive member of the Evangelical Churches Of the West Indies(ECWI). |
